5G is the 5th generation of wireless network technology. The basic theme for 5G is its increased speed. 5G is expected to be 10x faster than 4G. However, 5G means more than faster cellular networks and increased download speeds. It has the ability to transform life as we know it.

1G delivered analog voice.

2G introduced texting.

3G brought mobile data

4G LTE brought in the era of mobile internet

5G moves at faster speeds than 4G because they use different wavelengths than 4G. The smaller wavelengths allow 5G to carry 100x more data than 4G.  This will provide users with better support for virtual reality/augmented reality, self-driving cars, online gaming, online streaming services.

Although 5G is faster, its mini wave lengths make it more difficult to maintain a strong connection. Losing signal will be a common occurrence without the use of multiple 5G base stations.

Businesses using 5G

Companies like Apple, Walmart, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile have announced that they plan to utilize 5G to upgrade their businesses. Companies plan to improve its services and increase personalized customer service. 5G will also increase the speed of business transactions, improve fraud detection, and expand remote working opportunities.

App developers have started the race for the best 5G compatible phone applications. This will allow its users to experience more interactive and integrated apps.

Conclusion

The full potential of 5G is unknown because the technology is so new. However, experts do understand that 5G has the ability to make our lives easier by increasing the efficiency and safety of self-driving cars, increasing smart device connectivity, and improving the customer experience for businesses.
